Red Cross issues emergency call for blood
The American Red Cross is reissuing its emergency call for blood and platelet donors to give, after snowstorms, frigid temperatures, and the government shutdown further reduced lifesaving donations. Eligible donors, especially platelet donors and type O blood donors, are urged to help restock the shelves for patients. NRWA offers summer course for teachers
The Nashua River Watershed Association (NRWA) will offer elementary school teachers a chance to earn 15 professional development credits during two-day seminars in July. Participants will explore water and land science through hands-on, outdoor experiences. This is an opportunity to learn, collaborate, and network with educators from many communities, with a focus on science education. The fee is $100. Town clerk announces important town dates
Harvard Town Clerk Marlene Kenney has announced the following dates:
- Town Caucus – Monday, March 18, 7 p.m. at Town Hall
- Annual Town Meeting – Saturday, May 4, 9 a.m. in the Bromfield gym
- Annual Town Election, Tuesday, May 7, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the Bromfield cafeteria
Town Caucus will nominate candidates
The Town Caucus to nominate candidates for Harvard’s 2019 Annual Town Election will be held Monday, March 18, at 7 p.m. in the Town Hall meeting room. There is a quorum requirement of 25 Harvard registered voters. Caucus nominations require a Harvard registered voter to nominate a candidate and another to second the nomination. Up to two people receiving the highest number of votes for an open seat will be nominated by the Caucus. Open seats are:
- Moderator – 1 position for 1 year
- Select Board – 2 positions for 3 years
- Library Trustees – 2 positions for 3 years
- School Committee – 1 position for 3 years
- School Committee – 1 position to fill vacancy until 2021 Town Election
- Warner Free Lecture Trustees – 2 positions for 3 years
- Warner Free Lecture Trustees – 1 position to fill vacancy until 2021 Town Election
Census Bureau is hiring
The U.S. Census Bureau is recruiting thousands of people across the country to assist with the 2020 census count. There are a variety of temporary jobs including census takers, recruiting assistants, office staff, and supervisory staff. Take the energy survey

Rabies clinic at town garage
The Nashoba Associated Boards of Health (NABH) has scheduled a rabies clinic to be held Saturday, April 7, from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Harvard Town Garage. Cats must be brought in cages or closed boxes during the last half of the clinic. The charge per immunization is $15. Please contact the NABH at 978-425-6675 with any questions.
