The Littleton/Bromfield Tigers came back to defeat the Lunenburg Knights 4-2 last week after falling to them earlier in the season. The game was played Feb. 2 at the Wallace Civic Center Ice Arena in Fitchburg.
Seconds into the first period, the Knights scored, dodging the Tigers’ defensemen and flicking the puck past Littleton’s junior goalkeeper, Ben Canfield. But the Tigers were undeterred. Just minutes later, Bromfield freshman Maddox Lizotte, without an assist, scored the Tigers’ first goal. Six minutes into the period, Littleton senior Danny Angell attempted the Tigers’ second goal, but the Knights’ goalkeeper blocked it, and the first period ended in a 1-1 tie.

The second period began quickly, with Angell taking the puck up the ice and scoring for Littleton/Bromfield. Angell’s goal was assisted by Littleton senior Justin Montepeluso and Lizotte. The remainder of the second period was spent fighting for the puck, but no more goals were scored. The second period ended with Littleton/Bromfield in the lead 2-1.
The third period brought more goals for the Tigers and one more for the Lunenburg Knights, who scored two minutes into the last period. Littleton/Bromfield responded with a goal by Angell nine minutes into the period, which was assisted by Littleton junior Sean Mizzoni and Littleton sophomore Timmy Kelleher. Right afterward, Bromfield junior Ben Hays attempted another goal for the Tigers. Unfortunately, Lunenburg’s goalkeeper stopped Littleton/Bromfield’s advance. Angell scored the Tigers’ fourth goal, unassisted, with one minute left in the game. The third period ended with a Littleton/Bromfield win, 4-2.

As of Feb. 6, the Tigers were fourth in the five-member Coughlin Conference with an overall record of 7-8-1. They are scheduled to play Fitchburg Feb. 9 at 2 p.m. at the Groton School Rink #2.
