The Bromfield girls swim team triumphed over Nashoba 135-50 Wednesday Jan. 15, while the boys team suffered a close loss 90-84.
Members of the girls team placed first in 12 different events, including two relays. Ella Church qualified for the Division 1 state meet with a time of 2 minutes 18.72 seconds in the 200-yard individual medley and 1:13.40 in the 200-yard breastroke. Bromfield eighth-grader Lilly Tonole also qualified with a score of 272.03 in the 1-meter dive. Littleton junior Izzy Conner qualified for the Division 1 state meet in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:06.00, and so did the Bromfield A 200-yard freestyle relay team with a time of 1:50.13.
Despite the team’s loss to Nashoba, two Bromfield boys swimmers qualified for the Division 1 state meet. Senior Sam Tonole qualified in the 1-meter dive with a score of 299.10, and junior Christopher Clark qualified in the 100-meter freestyle with a time of 51.44.
Both the girls and the boys were scheduled to compete against Tantasqua on Tuesday, Jan. 23, at 4 p.m. and against Gardner on Wednesday, Jan. 25, at 7 p.m.
