Landscape designer, active church member, food pantry volunteer, longtime resident

Elizabeth T. (Taylor) Martel, 74, of Shirley, a former longtime resident of Harvard, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2019, in her home, surrounded by family.
She was born in Los Angeles, California, on Feb. 12, 1944, a daughter of the late Spence and Jean Taylor. She has lived in Shirley for the past 15 years.
Elizabeth worked as a landscape designer and also raised and cared for horses. She was an avid reader and world traveler and loved music and art. She was an active member of the Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Ayer and a longtime volunteer in several capacities with Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry in Devens.
She leaves her husband, Paul A. Martel of Shirley, and a daughter, Tamsin Hall, of Maryland.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Jan. 25, 2019, at 2 p.m. in the Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 21 Washington St., Ayer. There are no calling hours.
