Police made 15 motor vehicle stops during the past week, 12 resulting in verbal warnings and three in written warnings or citations. Officers helped two motorists with disabled vehicles. They also responded to four medical emergencies, and four people were transported to the hospital. Two firearms licenses were issued or renewed. And there were six reports of hazardous road conditions, mostly icy patches.
Tuesday, Dec. 4
At 7:36 a.m. a Poor Farm Road resident reported a case of identity theft. Two more cases were reported shortly thereafter, one at 8 a.m. from West Bare Hill Road and one at 8:01 a.m. by a resident who came to the station. The afternoon brought yet another identity theft case, this one at 4:11 p.m., again from West Bare Hill Road.
Wednesday, Dec. 5
An officer checked on a vehicle parked at an Ayer Road medical office at 1:06 a.m. but found nothing amiss. Someone called at 2:44 p.m. to report a car full of young people speeding in the Ayer Road vicinity, but the car had left the area when police arrived. A Depot Road resident called at 3:02 p.m. after coming home to find the front door standing wide open; police checked the house and all was safe inside. At 3:23 p.m. a caller said a car coming from Ayer was weaving all over the road, but again the car was gone when police looked for it. At 4:13 p.m. a Warren Avenue resident reported finding a canoe. An Old Mill Road resident called at 8:54 p.m. to say someone had driven up and down the street, then pulled into his driveway, and—when questioned—claimed to be looking for an excavator for sale. Police located the car and questioned the driver, who was indeed in the excavation business.

Friday, Dec. 7
Someone on Glenview Drive heard a loud banging against the house and called police at 7:55 p.m. Police checked the area but found no problems. An officer checked out a car parked at the Prospect Hill overlook at 8:48 p.m. and told the driver to move along.
Saturday, Dec. 8
Harvard’s dogs seemed to hear the call of the wild, with three of them taking off from their homes. In each case, police informed the animal control officer. A Bolton Road dog went missing at 1:50 p.m. but soon returned. At 2:48 p.m. a Scott Road resident reported a Yorkie gone. And at 5:47 p.m. a Russell terrier was reported missing from the same address.
Sunday, Dec. 9
A Madigan Lane resident called at 9:36 a.m. to report a loud disturbance at a neighboring house. At 1:08 p.m. someone on Westcott Road reported finding mail dumped in front of the house.
Monday, Dec. 10
An officer went to the Virginia Thurston Healing Garden at 9 a.m. to deliver the proceeds of the Pink Patch Project, in which Harvard police joined many other departments across the state in raising funds to promote research and treatment in the fight against breast cancer. Throughout November, the Harvard Police Department sold special patches modeled on the state police insignia and also accepted donations for the cause. At 7:04 p.m. there was a two-car collision near the intersection of Ayer Road and Gebo Lane, but no injuries were reported.
