The police made five traffic stops in the past week, all with verbal warnings. They helped three people with disabled vehicles and one person who was accidentally locked out of a car. Officers responded to eight calls for medical assistance, resulting in five people being taken by ambulance to area hospitals, four with Advanced Life Support on board. The police also issued or renewed five firearms licenses.
Tuesday, Oct. 16
An officer noticed a fallen tree at Fruitlands on Prospect Hill Road at 5:32 a.m. and alerted the Department of Public Works to remove the hazard. A Bolton Road resident called 911 at 6:41 a.m. and reported two horses loose on her property. An officer informed the horses’ owner, who rounded them up. The state police called at 9:38 p.m. to tell Harvard police that a vehicle weaving from lane to lane on Route 2 had exited at Ayer Road. Police searched the area but did not locate the car.
Wednesday, Oct. 17
A Stow Road resident called at 3:24 p.m. to report possible mailbox vandalism. At 4:36 p.m. a caller reported a tree down on Still River Road, and police notified the DPW.
Thursday, Oct. 18
At 12:55 a.m. an officer stopped a car on Mass. Ave. near the elementary school and arrested Gina Tankersley, 35, of Ayer, for driving under the influence of alcohol and with a suspended license. Police later drove her back to Ayer. A South Shaker Road resident called 911 at 9:22 a.m. to report yet another downed tree, and again the police informed the DPW. At 12:16 p.m. police received a call about a car parked without a permit in the Bromfield School lot. Because the same person had been warned about this issue before, police ordered the car towed. At 2:33 p.m. a caller reported a collision near the intersection of Ayer Road and Gebo Lane. Technically the event was a hit-and-run, because one driver had left the scene, unaware of having caused minor damage to the other vehicle; police located that driver and filed a report on the incident.
Friday, Oct. 19
A Candleberry Lane resident phoned at 6:09 a.m. with suspicions about a car parked at the end of his driveway, but police found that the driver was picking up a passenger. At 8:45 a.m. someone on Littleton County Road reported hearing shots near the house, but police found nothing amiss.
Saturday, Oct. 20
At 12:13 p.m. police contacted a West Bare Hill Road resident while investigating a case of identity theft. Someone on Warren Avenue called 911 at 4:51 p.m. about a possible trespasser at a vacant house nearby, but police found no sign of either a person or a vehicle there.
Sunday, Oct. 21
At 1:03 p.m. a caller reported a large tree had fallen across Old Littleton Road, and police notified the DPW to remove it.
Monday, Oct. 22
A Sholan Circle resident called at 7:30 a.m. to tell police that four beagle-like dogs with orange collars were loose in the area, and police notified the animal control officer. At 12:39 p.m. someone called to report that a green Subaru had crossed a double yellow line and passed the caller’s car at high speed on Prospect Hill Road, but the speeder had left the area when police arrived.
