The Congregational Church of Harvard, United Church of Christ (UCC) announces the arrival of Pastor Ed Koonz as interim minister. His role will be to guide the church in understanding what it needs in its next settled minister and to continue the ministry of the church.
“We live in an interesting time in church life as people try to balance life’s competing demands along with investing in their spiritual growth,” said Pastor Koonz in a statement released by the church. “I’m pleased to be a part of the Congregational Church of Harvard’s continued learning, to help guide the transition from their prior settled minister to their next, and to welcome the Harvard community into life in our church.”
Pastor Koonz, known simply as Ed to the church community, was most recently an interim minister for the Congregational Church of Laconia UCC in Laconia, New Hampshire. He grew up in Shelburne Falls and now lives in Nashua, New Hampshire, with his wife, Barbara. He has three grown children. Prior to Laconia, he was the settled minister in the Pilgrim Church, UCC in Nashua for 21 years and Hampstead Congregational Church UCC in Hampstead for six years. He began his career at the Neighborhood Church of Palos Verdes in Palos Verdes, California, after graduating from the Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley.
