Lunch at Osawa Japanese Bistro
On Friday, Oct. 12, join COA friends and neighbors for lunch at Ayer’s newest restaurant, the Osawa Japanese Bistro. The van will leave Hildreth House at 11:15 a.m. Van fee is $2.
Let’s go to the movies
On Monday, Oct. 15, at 1 p.m. in Volunteers Hall, see a feature-length movie. The film is a comedy starring Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, and Anne Hathaway as members of an all-female group of thieves.
Special exhibit of pastels at MFA
The COA will vist Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts Wednesday, Oct. 17, to see “French Pastels: Treasures From the Vault.” The exhibit is an opportunity to see nearly 40 seldom-shown masterworks by Cassatt, Degas, Manet, Monet, Pissarro, Redon, and Renoir. The total fee for the van and MFA admission is $28. If you are a MFA member or already have a ticket, the charge is just $5. The van will leave Hildreth House at 9 a.m. and will return at 4 p.m.
Flu clinic
Nashoba Nursing will offer a flu clinic at Hildreth House Tuesday, Oct. 17, from 9 to 11 a.m. Flu symptoms can keep you bedridden for a week or more, so prevention is key. Bring your insurance (Medicare) card. If you are unable to come to Hildreth House on Oct. 17, there will be a second clinic at the Bromfield School Wednesday, Oct. 18. If you need a ride, call the COA.
Line dancing!
Come join the fun of line dancing Mondays at 10:15 a.m. at the Congregational Church Fellowship Hall. Beginning and returning dancers are welcome. Fee is $12 per month or $3 per class. The first class is free.
SHINE offers advice on health insurance plan options
For seniors with a Medicare Prescription Drug Plan or a Medicare Advantage Plan (HMO or PPO), open enrollment is Oct. 15 through Dec. 7. This is the time to review your current plan and the chance to change plans. All those enrolled in Medicare should have received notification by mail of current plan changes. The Minuteman Senior Services SHINE program helps explain health insurance options, with free, confidential counseling on all aspects of Medicare and related health insurance programs. Computer support and workshops
Each Tuesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., computer volunteers are at Hildreth House to help with technical issues. To avoid waits, call to schedule an appointment.
