During the week, police made 12 traffic stops that resulted in five verbal warnings and seven citations or written warnings. The ambulance crew responded to five medical emergencies and took four people to the hospital, all with Advanced Life Support on board.
Tuesday, June 5
At 11:21 p.m. police followed up on a suspected counterfeit bill that was used at Dunkin’ Donuts on Ayer Road some time ago. Police had sent the bill to the U.S. Secret Service office for investigation. The bill was not counterfeit and was returned to the Harvard police, but because it had an unusual mark on it, the Secret Service advised the police not to put the bill back into circulation. An officer exchanged the bill at Rollstone Bank & Trust on Ayer Road and delivered the new bill to Dunkin’ Donuts.

Thursday, June 7
At 3:06 p.m. police responded to a 911 call for a civil disturbance involving the use of a dumpster at an office building on Ayer Road. Police resolved the misunderstanding between the two parties. Police received a noise complaint from a resident at The Elms on Stow Road at 4:38 p.m. Police spoke to the residents involved but told the Press that noise continues to be an issue there due to poor soundproofing between the units. At 5:30 p.m. a Hynes Lane resident reported the theft of several items of mail. Police reported the theft to the post office.
Friday, June 8
Police stopped a vehicle at the bottom of the ramp onto Route 2 westbound at 9:23 a.m. and charged the driver, a 29-year-old Quincy man, with driving an unregistered motor vehicle, driving an uninsured vehicle, and operating a motor vehicle with revoked registration. A woman leading a group of second-grade students on a field trip called 911 at 10:42 a.m. to report a German shepherd attacking the sheep the group was observing on South Shaker Road. The dog’s owner arrived and took control of the dog before officers responded. At 10:57 a.m. police received a report of graffiti on the bath house at the Oxbow National Wildlife Refuge. Police reported the graffiti to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. A Florida woman called at 11:10 a.m. and asked police to check on her 18-year-old daughter who had gone missing from the Friendly Crossways Youth Hostel where she had been working as a volunteer. Police found the woman’s daughter in New Haven, Connecticut, and said she appeared to be all right. At 11:44 a.m. police received another call from a resident at The Elms asking to speak with an officer regarding a noise problem at the apartments. At 3:09 p.m. police served a summons at The Elms related to the noise problem. A Brown Road resident called at 9:34 p.m. to report a baby deer in the road that looked as if it had been bitten by a coyote. Police contacted the Massachusetts Environmental Police, who advised them that the deer should be left alone, but added they would send someone to check on it. An onlooker who wanted to take the deer into her house was told it was against the law to do so. A vehicle struck a downed tree on Stow Road at 10:19 p.m. No one was injured. At 10:24 p.m. state police reported that a white Camaro exited Route 2 eastbound onto Ayer Road and someone inside the car fired several rounds from a gun out the car window as the car entered Ayer Road. Police checked the area but did not find the car.
Saturday, June 9
At 7:51 a.m. a caller reported a suspicious-looking man carrying a bag and staring at cars that passed by on Oak Hill Road. Police found the man, who was working for one of the nearby farms. An Old Mill Road resident called police at 12:41 p.m. to report being threatened by a neighbor. Police told the neighbors to resolve their differences. At 6:15 p.m. a resident reported a missing dog, a black whippet, from a location near the Boxborough line.

Monday, June 11
At 12:25 p.m. a caller reported that she had been running down Littleton Road when a fawn ran up to her. She said the fawn looked fine but there was no mother around. Police advised her to leave the animal alone. An East Bare Hill Road resident called at 5:50 p.m. to report seeing a fox with foam coming from its mouth. Police responded but could not find the animal.
