This is a belated but heartfelt and very big thank-you to over 50 community volunteers and to corporate sponsors at our first-ever Bromfield Reality Fair June 1. You made the fair go extremely well with your willingness to be there for the kids, your smiles, and your responses to the many questions from 90 eager 10th-graders.
Special thanks go to Stow’s Laura Spear and Chris Spear, the entire Nashoba Valley Rotary, and Nashoba Regional High School for providing us with the materials needed to put our show together and for allowing us to observe the NRHS Reality Fair in early April. Without their gracious help, we could never have made it all happen in two months. Sue Reedich of the Lions Club volunteered her time, pickup truck, and the tables needed to set up the Bromfield gym for the fair. Also special thanks to Gervais Ford, Fidelity Bank, Main Street Bank, and Rollstone Bank as sponsors, absorbing some of our modest expenses for material we needed, and Catalano Companies for providing Dunkin’ Donuts coffee and doughnuts.
Of course, the lead sponsor is the Rotary Club of Ayer, Shirley, Harvard, and Devens, with its enthusiastic support. Thank you to Bromfield Principal Scott Hoffman, the Bromfield guidance department, and Katelyn Russell, health and wellness teacher, for bending the school schedule and curriculum ever so slightly, for recognizing the value of the Reality Fair, and for keeping it going smoothly. Chef Paul served up an impromptu lunch for our volunteers. Jodi Specht, a community member of the Bromfield School Council and a guidance counselor herself, eloquently explained to the other members of the Careers Committee of the School Council what a Reality Fair was all about, way back when. Without Jodi’s inspiration, the fair would not have happened.
