Herb container gardening
On Monday, May 21, at 10 a.m. meet at the Hildreth House porch to plant herbs in a container that you can take home with you. If you have a pot you want to use, bring it, but the COA will provide containers, soil, and an array of herbs. Wear gardening gloves, and make sure you sign up so we have enough materials. Space is limited to eight. There is no charge.
Cruise Night at Kimball’s in Lancaster
Join the COA for a trip to Cruise Night at Kimballs in Lancaster Friday, May 25, 5 to 7 p.m., weather permitting. See a display of 300 cars, hot rods, classic, and unique cars and enjoy some seafood and ice cream. Admittance to the car show is free. The van will leave Hildreth House at 4 p.m. and return at 7 p.m. Van fee is $2.
Books at home
The Friends of the Harvard Public Library will deliver books and other library materials to homebound patrons. If you are temporarily or permanently bound to your home, a volunteer will be assigned to you. After ascertaining your interests, a librarian can make selections for you, or you can request your own materials. Delivery schedules are arranged on an individual basis. For more information, call 978-772-6188.
Visit to the Boston Public Library
Join the COA Friday, June 1, for a visit to the Boston Public Library. See the Breathing Room exhibit, highlighting some of the nation’s most recognizable green spaces, and enjoy a concert in the library courtyard. A free tour of the library begins at 11 a.m. for those who are interested, or sit in on the WBUR/NPR radio broadcast featuring Jim Braude and Marjorie Eagan. Lunch at 11:30 a.m. at the Atlantic Fish Company across the street from the library is optional. The van will depart Hildreth House at 9:30 a.m. and will leave Boston at 3 p.m. Van fee is $5.
Computer support
Each Tuesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. COA volunteers Doug and Adam are at Hildreth House to help with any computer issues you may be having. To minimize wait time, please call to schedule an appointment.
