Police made 10 traffic stops during the week; three motorists were issued verbal warnings and the others received written warnings or citations. The ambulance crew was summoned six times and took three people to the hospital, two with Advanced Life Support on board. One person refused transport.
Tuesday, May 22
A 911 call at 2:27 a.m. from a Littleton County Road residence resulted in a 54-year-old man being taken to Emerson Hospital. An officer stopped a vehicle at 9:17 a.m. on Ayer Road at the Ayer town line and issued a summons to the unlicensed driver and one to the vehicle’s owner for allowing an unlicensed operator to drive his vehicle. The vehicle was towed. At 12:34 p.m. a caller reported a bounced check that was written for an amount over $250, which is a felony in Massachusetts. An investigation is ongoing.
Wednesday, May 23
At 12:32 a.m. a Littleton County Road caller reported hearing what sounded like four gunshots. An officer checked the area but found nothing. At 3:52 a.m. a 911 caller reported a man on the Route 2 overpass fence on Ayer Road. An officer got the man off the fence, and he was taken to Nashoba Valley Medical Center. At 6:33 a.m. a caller from the USDA Wildlife Services’ “geese patrol” notified police that a firearm would be in use at the Shaker Hills Country Club.
Thursday, May 24
At 5:35 p.m. multiple 911 callers reported a car fire at Shaker Hills Country Club. Harvard police referred the calls to Ayer. At 6:26 p.m. Ayer police requested help with an attempted carjacking at Shaker Hills. Police believe the two incidents may be related, and the incident is under investigation by Ayer police.
Friday, May 25
A Hynes Lane caller reported hearing a burglar alarm going off at a neighbor’s house at 12:37 a.m. Police checked with the neighbor, who said he didn’t have a burglar alarm. The caller said the sound was more like a beep. Officers cleared the call.
Saturday, May 26
A Still River Depot Road resident called at 1:21 p.m. to report a blue sedan driving very fast up and down the road. An officer checked the area, but the vehicle was gone. At 5:17 p.m. an Oak Hill Road resident called to complain about a vehicle being driven at a high rate of speed on Old Littleton Road toward Littleton. Harvard and Littleton units were notified to be on the lookout for the vehicle.
Sunday, May 27
At 2:26 p.m. a 911 caller reported youths in a vehicle throwing water balloons at passing vehicles on Bolton Road. The caller provided a plate number, and the incident is under investigation. At 9:16 p.m. a caller reported that a white SUV drove into an Ayer Road parking lot near Dunkin’ Donuts at a high rate of speed. The caller said the woman driving the car was crying, and she kicked her male passenger out of the car, made suicidal statements, and drove off at a high rate of speed toward Ayer. Harvard police notified state police as well as Ayer and Littleton police. The woman was stopped in Littleton and taken to a hospital by a Littleton ambulance.
Monday, May 28
State police requested assistance with a suicidal man on Route 2 near the Harvard exit at 5:42 a.m. The man was taken to Nashoba Valley Medical Center.
