The Littleton-Bromfield Tigers ice hockey team wrapped up its 2017–2018 season with its traditional intrasquad blue and white scrimmage of coaches and players Feb. 24 at the Groton School. Bromfield senior Dmitri Dutkewych was named a Coughlin Conference and MIAA Central Division 3A all-star.
Although the team did not make the playoffs this year and ranked fourth in the five-team Coughlin Conference with a season record of 7–10–3, the team was “competitive throughout,” Coach Howie Schneider wrote in an email to the Press. Six players were named Central Division 3A all-stars. Three players, including Dutkewych, were also named Coughlin Conference all-stars. The team beat Bellingham High School (4–2) and Stoughton High School (3–1) to win the Bellingham Christmas Tournament in Franklin for the second year in a row.
All-star Dutkewych was the Tigers’ fourth highest scorer, with five goals and nine assists during the 20-game season. For Dutkewych, Shane Picariello, and two Littleton players, this will be their last year, but two dozen experienced Tigers are waiting in the wings.
The players and coaches will gather one last time for a March 13 team banquet at Littleton High School.
