Let’s go to the movies
On Monday, March 12, at 1 p.m. in Volunteers Hall, see a feature-length film starring Frances McDormand, Sam Rockwell, and Woody Harrelson. The movie has been nominated for Best Picture; McDormand and Rockwell are Best Actress and Best Supporting Actor nominees, respectively, for their roles in it.
Boston Flower Show
Visit the Boston Flower and Garden Show with the COA Wednesday, March 14. The van will leave Hildreth House at 9 a.m. and will return around 2 p.m. The fee is $20.
St. Patrick’s Day party
The COA will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a lunchon Thursday, March 15, at noon at St. Theresa’s Church. The meal will be a traditional corned beef dinner prepared by local chef Bill Ference. Seating is limited; reserve by March 8.
Accessorize for spring!
Join the COA for lunch and a spring accessories makeover Tuesday, March 20, at 12:30 p.m. at a presentation by Sharon Nolli, executive director of Summit Elder Care.
Bromfield Student Council lunch
Bromfield’s Student Council will host a lunch for residents and volunteers Wednesday, March 21, at 12:30 p.m. at the Bromfield cafeteria. RSVP by March 14.
Is it simple memory loss or Alzheimer’s?
On Tuesday, March 27, at 12:30 p.m. Lauren Gaffney, occupational therapist and memory unit director at Life Care Center of Nashoba Valley, will discuss how to tell the difference, when to see a professional, and how Alzheimer’s is diagnosed and dealt with.
Library books at home
If you can’t get to the library because of health issues and would like books delivered to your home, call the library at 978-456-4114.
Fuel assistance
There is still time to apply for fuel assistance for this winter. The state gross annual income limits for assistance are $34,380 for a household of one and $44,958 for a household of two. In addition, Harvard offers a HEAT (Harvard Energy Assistance Team) program. Call the COA office if you are concerned about paying heating bills.
Is your smoke alarm up to date?
Is your smoke alarm working? Is it more than seven years old? If you would like to get your smoke alarm or carbon monoxide alarm checked by the Fire Department, or if you know yours is old, call 978-456-4120 or 978-798-9778.
COA transportaion guidelines
The MART van is availabale for rides to and from medical appointments, personal appointments, and local shopping 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for a small fee. Rides must be scheduled 48 hours in advance by calling the COA office, 978-456-4120. If you are unable to maneuver on your own, please bring someone along for assistance since van drivers are not permitted to provide this help. Also, if you are having a procedure requiring sedation or dilation of eyes, etc. make sure you have someone to escort you; van drivers are not allowed to leave their vehicles. If the COA van is not available, you may contact Harvard Help.
