The police made four traffic stops during the week, issuing three citations. They also assisted four drivers who had locked themselves out of their cars, helped one person with a disabled vehicle, and processed one firearms license. The ambulance crew responded to nine medical emergencies, taking seven people to the hospital, three with Advanced Life Support on board.
Tuesday, Mar. 20
Near the center of town at 9:55 p.m., an officer stopped someone driving a vehicle with a canceled registration. The unregistered car was towed.
Wednesday, March 21
At 11:58 a.m. police were notified by phone that an 18-wheel truck had been involved in a collision near the Ayer rotary and had left the scene heading toward Harvard. It was not clear how much earlier the collision had taken place, and police were not able to locate the truck. At 12:15 p.m. a 911 caller reported a two-car accident on Ayer Road near Dunkin’ Donuts. No one was injured. Police gave one driver a citation for failure to use care in turning.
Thursday, March 22
At 6:18 a.m. police notified the DPW that road conditions were becoming hazardous. At 7:30 a.m. there was a rollover accident near the intersection of Ayer and South Shaker roads. Both occupants were injured, and the ambulance service took them to Nashoba Valley Medical Center. The car was towed. At 8:10 a.m. another car slid into a ditch on Oak Hill Road, but no one was injured. Again the car was towed. At 3:15 p.m. someone called police to say that a person had double-parked near Town Hall in a way that could obstruct fire trucks; police spoke to the offender. At 9:06 p.m. a resident reported that a tractor-trailer had jackknifed and was blocking Finn Road. Police assisted with removing the vehicle.
Friday, March 23
At 6:20 a.m. a Mass. Ave. resident reported a nearby dog barking incessantly, but all was quiet when police arrived and searched the area. A person driving on Warren Avenue called at 11:29 a.m. to report that a dump truck overloaded with brush and branches had passed his car, and the branches had struck his side mirror. The caller expressed concern for any pedestrians the truck might pass. But it had been some time since the truck had passed by, and police could not locate it. At 11:55 a.m. police responded to a fender-bender on Ayer Road near the Dunkin’ Donuts; the drivers exchanged insurance information.
Saturday, March 24
At 1:02 a.m. an officer noticed a car at the Prospect Hill Road overlook and told the occupants that overnight stopping was not permitted there. The ambulance responded to a call at 9:11 p.m. reporting a one-car accident on Route 2 eastbound near Exit 38, but no police action was needed. At 11:40 p.m. the police again alerted the DPW to hazardous conditions that were developing on the roads.

Monday, March 26
A 911 caller at 3:55 p.m. reported a two-car collision near the town center. No one was injured, but one driver received a citation. At 8:23 p.m. an Old Shirley Road resident reported suspicions about a car in the driveway. Police spoke with the driver, but no further action was needed.
