During the week, police made one traffic stop and issued a verbal warning. They also assisted one driver with a disabled vehicle and one driver with a lockout. During the snowstorm of March 13 and 14, police fielded three calls for downed trees or wires and notified the DPW when roads were becoming hazardous. The ambulance crew was summoned seven times and took five people to the hospital, three with Advanced Life Support on board.
Tuesday, Mar. 13
At 6:20 a.m. a caller reported a minor collision with a private plow driver on Still River Road, but he said both vehicles were drivable and no assistance was needed from the police.
Wednesday, March 14
Police received multiple calls for accidents on Route 2 because of the snowstorm; see the Fire Log for more information. At 9:31 a.m. a Highland Avenue caller reported a man had fallen and was in need of medical assistance. He was taken to Nashoba Valley Medical Center. At 10:06 a.m. two officers were dispatched to the Bromfield School to ensure everyone’s safety during a student protest (see story on page 1). An 18-year-old Madigan Lane resident called the station at 8:24 p.m. and asked to speak with an officer regarding his parents’ taking his passport. An officer advised the caller of his rights.
Thursday, March 15
A 911 caller reported a minor motor vehicle accident on Route 2 at 4:51 p.m. Police notified Leominster State Police of the accident. At 11:21 p.m. police removed some cones and signs that someone had put in the middle of the intersection of Still River and Ayer roads.

Saturday, March 17
At 2:45 p.m. a caller complained about a silver minivan with six people in it who were handing out pamphlets in the area. Police did not locate the vehicle, but they suspected that the pamphlets were religious in nature and said that no permit is required to hand out religious pamphlets.
