Bromfield juniors Kate Selig and Nikhil Kommineni reached the quarterfinals (top eight out of 360) at the Harvard University debate tournament sponsored by the National Speech and Debate Association (NSDA) in February. In Janaury, they placed fifth out of 300 teams at another NSDA tournament at Columbia University. The two have ranked in the top 50 high school debaters nationally for most of this school year, although ratings fluctuate from time to time. Matthew Atwell and Vito Montesa also qualified for the Columbia tournament.

Kommineni and Selig have also qualified to compete in the Tournament of Champions, the most prestigious U.S. national student debate tournament, to be held in Fort Lauderdale this June.

Bromfield senior J Woolcock competed at the Harvard University tournament in the dramatic interpretation speech event. Woolcock received high marks and a bid to the state finals in March.
