With two first-place finishes, Bromfield senior Chloe Alfieri led her team to a third-place finish at the Mid-Wach League Division D meet Friday, Feb. 2, at Fitchburg High School. The boys team placed sixth at the same meet.
The girls team finished with 74 points, behind Littleton and Lunenburg. Alfieri came in first in the 55-meter with a time of 7.61, and the 300-meter with a time of 43.02. Sophomore Samantha Schoenberg came in third in the 55-meter with a time of 9.87. Tessa McClain came in third in the mile with a time of 5:46.15. Seventh-grader Molly Squire came in third in the 2-mile with a time of 13:18.32. In the 55-meter hurdles, senior Anya Begue finished third with a time of 9.60.
The boys team finished with 30 points. In the 300-meter, senior Ryell DeRuijter came in second with a time of 40.23. Bromfield placed third in the 4×220-meter relay with a time of 1:48.29. In the high jump, DeRuijter placed second with a jump of 5 feet, 10 inches.
Both teams will compete in the district championship meet on Saturday, Feb. 10, at Fitchburg High School.
