Cultural Collaborative seeks volunteers
The Harvard Cultural Collaborative (HCC) is looking for friendly adults to welcome guests and to staff the reception desk at its new gallery and community center in the old library at 7 Fairbank Street. Volunteers are needed on a weekly or every-other-week basis. Please email the HCC volunteer coordinator at HarvardCCVolunteers@gmail.com. Open time slots are:
- Tuesdays, 12:45 to 4 p.m.
- Wednesdays, 12:45 to 4 p.m.
- Thursdays, 3 to 5 p.m.
Life support/CPR course offered
Always On Call Health Services® Inc. will offer the American Heart Association’s Basic Life Support/CPR for the Health Care Provider course Tuesday, Jan. 23, at 285 Central Street in Leominster. This course is geared for people who work within the health care field, day care providers, and nursing school students. Registration is required in advance at 978-537-9900 ext. 114.
Elderly and Disabled Tax Aid Fund
Harvard’s Elderly and Disabled Tax Aid fund assists elderly and disabled residents defray the costs of their property taxes. The fund consists totally of private donations. Aid distributed in accordance with established guidelines and is designed to support those who are unable to pay their taxes without hardships. The funds are disbursed based on need and varies from year to year.
Donations are accepted at any time of the year and are tax-deductible. Applications are available at the town website, www.harvard.ma.us, the Council on Aging, or the town treasurer’s office. Call the COA at 978-456-4120 or the town treasurer at 978-456-4100, ext. 318, with any questions.

Stable permit reminder
The Harvard Board of Health asks any resident who keeps barn animals (horses, ponies, donkeys, cattle, sheep, goats, llamas, alpacas, swine, etc.) to apply for a stable permit. Permits are not required for chickens or other fowl. Applications are available at the Board of Health office or on the town website, harvard.ma.us.
Blood donations needed
The American Red Cross has issued an urgent call for blood and platelet donors to help tackle a winter blood shortage. Severe winter weather has had a tremendous impact on blood donations already this year, with many blood drives forced to cancel. Make an appointment by downloading the free app at redcross.blood.org or by calling 1-800-733-2767. Nearby blood donation locations:
