The Trojan girls varsity basketball team fell to league-leader Tyngsborough Tuesday, Jan. 16, 50–19. This loss was followed by another, this time against Hudson, 47–14, leaving the team with a 12-game losing streak.

The Tyngsborough Tigers took the lead from the start, leaving the Trojans behind 34–11 after the first half. The Tigers’ top scorer in the game, senior Amanda Leal, recorded 16 points for her team, eight from free throws. Sophomore Katherine Hurynowicz followed with nine points. Trojan top scorer sophomore Callie Frackiewicz put up 10 points, more than half of her team’s total. Five of Frackiewicz’s points came from completed free throws. Bromfield sophomore Kellie Sundeen scored three points. After the game, Tyngsborough was at the top of of Mid-Wach League Division D with an overall record of 6–3.
The Trojans’ second loss of the week came Friday, Jan. 19, at Hudson. Hudson led 26–9 at the end of the first half. In the second half, the Hawks added another 21 points, while the Trojans notched only five. Hawk player Brianna Cabral was top scorer with 15 points. Alex Sousa followed with 11 points. Frackiewicz took home top scorer for the Trojans again with 10 points. Eighth-grader Natalia Dutkewych and freshman Isabelle Katter followed with two points each. Hudson’s win left it at fourth place in the Mid-Wach League Division C with an overall record of 6–6.
After last week’s losses, Bromfield’s record stood at 0–4 in the league and 0–12 overall. The team’s next game was scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 23.
