On Wednesday, Jan. 10, the Bromfield varsity girls indoor track team won 66–25 against Murdock at Shrewsbury High School. Senior Chloe Alfieri came in first in the 55-meter, running a 7.20, and second in the 600-meter with a time of 1:47.40. Freshman Claire Stoddard came in second in the 300-meter at 46.90. Sophomore Tessa McClain took first in both the 1,000-meter with a 3:17.50 time and the mile with a 5:42.40.
The boys indoor track team lost to Murdock 61–30. Will Squire came in second in the high jump with a jump of 5 feet 4 inches.
At the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston on Sunday, Jan. 21, during the MSTCA state relays, the girls ran in two events, the 4×800 and the 4×200. The 4×800 was run by seventh-grader Molly Squire, freshman Hannah Beckman, senior Sophie Beckman, and sophomore McClain. They ran a 10:35.10. The individual splits for this relay were 2:41.0, 2:54.0, 2:34.0, and 2:26.0, respectively. This relay placed sixth. The 4×200 was run by sophomore Liza Toll, junior Courtney Route, freshman Stoddard, and senior Alfieri. They ran a 1:53.09, placing fifth. Both of these relay teams have qualified for the Division 5 state championship. The qualification for the 4×200 is 1:55.74, and the qualification for the 4×800 is 10:42.24.
The girls team is third in the Mid-Wach League’s Division D with three wins and one loss. The boys team is fifth in Division D of the Mid-Wach League with no wins and four losses. Both the girls and boys teams have a meet rescheduled from Wednesday, Jan. 17, to Wednesday, Jan. 24, against Littleton at Wachusett Regional High School. On Sunday, Feb. 4, at the Reggie Lewis Center, the teams will participate in a MSTCA Invitational.
