Police made six traffic stops during the week, which resulted in one citation and five verbal warnings. They also assisted three motorists with disabled vehicles. The ambulance crew responded to six medical emergencies and took four people to the hospital, two with Advanced Life Support on board. Two people refused treatment or transport to the hospital.

Ayer police called at 9:07 a.m. to request that an officer contact a Harvard resident.
Wednesday, Nov. 15
At 3:50 p.m. a 911 caller reported a theft in progress at the Shaker cemetery, where vandals were making off with grave markers. The suspects were gone when police arrived and were not found in a subsequent search of the area. A Rollstone Bank & Trust employee called at 4 p.m. to report that someone had opened an account there with a fraudulent check. Police contacted the person, a 45-year-old Marshfield resident, and issued him a summons on charges of check forgery. At 7:29 p.m. a caller reported a single-car accident on Shaker Road. Police, fire, and EMS personnel responded and found a car that had gone off the road, landing on a large rock. The driver, who refused medical treatment, said a deer had run in front of her car and she swerved to avoid it, causing her car to go off the roadway. Someone called 911 at 8:17 p.m. to report suspicions about a man seen loitering near the General Store. An officer went to the location, searched the area, but found no one.
Thursday, Nov. 16
At 10:55 a.m. a resident stopped at the station to speak with an officer about a possible scam. A caller reported at 5:19 p.m. that a deer had been struck on Mass. Ave. Police checked the area but did not find a deer.
Friday, Nov. 17
A patrol officer stopped on Mass. Ave. at 9:39 a.m. to remove a number of 3-inch screws found in the roadway. A Stow Road resident called at 10:45 a.m. to report that two men in a tan vehicle had pulled into the driveway, gotten out of the car, and rung the doorbell. When the caller didn’t answer the door, the men left. Police say the men were Jehovah’s Witnesses. At 3:04 p.m. a patrol officer stopped on Oak Hill Road to move aside some tree debris in the road. A motorist called at 4:39 p.m. to report striking a deer. The driver was not injured, and there was no damage to the car, but the deer had to be euthanized.
Saturday, Nov. 18
A Prospect Hill Road resident called at 11:17 a.m. to report that her purse had been stolen at Dunkin’ Donuts. Police say the woman called the next day to report that she had found the purse in her car. An Old Meadow Lane resident called at 12:04 p.m. to report that an unfamiliar black Lab was roaming the yard. The animal control officer was notified. An Ayer Road resident called at 3:08 p.m. to report that a black Lab with a leash was wandering around in the area. The animal control officer was called.
Sunday, Nov. 19
A Park Lane resident called at 8:55 a.m. to report that an unfamiliar beagle was loose in the yard and being disruptive. The animal control officer was notified. A Westcott Road resident called at 11:23 a.m. to report concerns about a fox in the yard that was acting strangely. The animal control officer was advised. A Stow Road resident called at 1:37 p.m. to ask who would be responsible for summoning the electric company to repair a wire down in a common driveway. The caller was told that residents on the common drive would be responsible and was told to call National Grid. At 1:53 p.m. a caller reported a large tree down across Old Littleton Road. The Department of Public Works was dispatched to take care of it. Someone called at 2:03 p.m. with safety concerns related to a part of the library roof that had come off in high winds. Someone from the Fire Department responded to observe the damage and determined it did not pose a hazard and then advised a library representative that a roofing contractor be called to repair it. A Still River Road resident called with suspicions about a gray sedan that had been driving back and forth near the house and honking. An officer caught up with the car and spoke with the driver, who said he was trying to deliver pizza and was lost.
Monday, Nov. 20
At 6:57 p.m. a caller reported a missing juvenile. Police say the youth was found a few hours later.
