NRWA online auction is underway

The Nashua River Watershed Association’s (NRWA) online auction at www.biddingforgood.com/NashuaRiverWatershed has begun and will end Dec. 1. The auction provides a way for participants to do their holiday shopping while supporting NRWA’s efforts to protect natural resources and provide environmental education programs in 32 watershed communities.



American Heart Assoc. course offered

Always On Call Health Services® Inc. will offer the American Heart Association’s Basic Life Support/CPR for the Health Care Provider course Tuesday, Nov. 28, at 285 Central Street in Leominster. This course is geared for people who work within the healthcare field, day care providers, and nursing school students. Registration is required in advance at 978-537-9900 ext. 114.



Property inspections

Harvard’s Board of Assessors is in the process of conducting periodic property data inspections. Data collectors will be wearing ID badges and checking in with the Harvard Police Department. These inspections will take place during weekday hours. Inspection notices and questionnaires were mailed to properties to be inspected. Scholastic Book Fair

The Scholastic Book Fair at the Hildreth Elementary School library continues at the following times.

  • Thursday and Friday, Nov 16–17, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Saturday, Nov. 18, noon to 4 p.m.
  • Monday, Nov. 20, noon to 7 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Nov. 21, noon to 4 p.m.

Recall of fire extinguishers

The Harvard Fire Department wants residents to know that Kidde and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission are recalling all Kidde fire extinguishers with plastic handles manufactured between January 1973 and Aug. 15, 2017. To determine if your extinguisher is affected, check online at www.kidde.com and click Product Safety Recall Notice or call Kidde toll free at 855-271-0773, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Residents may also contact Lt. Andrew Perry at 978-456-3648 or aperry@harvard.ma.us. After you have replaced your extinguisher, you can leave your old one at the fire station.



Practical nursing program info session

Monty Tech will hold an informational session on its practical nursing program Thursday, Nov. 30, 5 to 7 p.m. in the school cafeteria at 1050 Westminster Street (Route 2A) in Fitchburg.

Those interested in pursuing a career in nursing may find out more about the school’s 10-month, hands-on practical nursing curriculum. Faculty and alumni will answer questions about the program and career opportunities available to graduates. Tours of the program’s state-of-the-art facilities and demonstrations of high-tech medical equipment will be given.

The program is accredited as a Chapter 74 adult education program and by the Council on Occupational Education. It is also fully approved through the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing.
