Thank you to the Press for covering the Board of Health meeting with Selectman Stu Sklar and Irene Congdon, Department of Environmental Protection recycling coordinator for central Massachusetts, regarding changes being considered for the Transfer Station. The health board wants to clarify two points: First, the board is not responsible for the Transfer Station; through our contacts at DEP, we are supporting the selectmen in addressing the cost of trash disposal in the town. Second, the program, if adopted by the Board of Selectmen, is called “Save Money and Reduce Trash” or SMART.
