The Bromfield varsity girls soccer team tied the Tyngsborough Tigers, 3–3, home at their senior game Friday, Oct. 27.
Bromfield played an assertive game from the start, employing a variety of shots on net. The forward offensive players frequently crossed the ball through the middle before shooting, while midfielders attempted to score farther from the goal with longer shots. The Trojans battled fiercely, chasing rebounds and using their foreheads and chests to head and trap balls to break up Tiger plays. Both teams often volleyed in attempts to receive or intercept throw-ins. Communication among Trojans was strong, with Bromfield’s offense smoothly passing back to midfield and defense when under Tiger pressure. Although the Trojans had many opportunities near the Tigers’ goal, they were unable to score in the first half, which ended with a 0–0 tie.

In the second half, freshman Bella Kehoe finally scored for Bromfield, followed by sophomore Sam Schoenberg. The Tigers retaliated with a first goal of their own, before Bromfield junior Courtney Route put in the Trojans’ third and final goal with a header. Tyngsborough scored two more times before the end of the game.
The Trojans ended their season at the top of the Mid-Wach League Division D, 7–0–1, and now head into postseason. The Kehoe sisters, Schoenberg, and senior Sarah Moore were among the top eight scorers in their league. Senior Sierra Gomez ranks third in goal tending.
