Chen-Courtin named to Beth Israel Deaconess Board of Overseers

Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center named Old Littleton Road resident Dorothy Chen-Courtin to its Board of Overseers at its Annual Meeting of the Boards Oct. 19.

Members of the Board of Overseers act as goodwill ambassadors, highlighting the importance of the medical center’s mission to their local communities and strengthening the medical center’s ability to advance its mission through philanthropy.

Chen-Courtin is the founder and president of Marketing & Management Associates for Nonprofits, a management consultancy firm that adapts and applies best practices from the for-profit sector for the benefit of nonprofit clients. She was a member of the consultant pool for Third Sector New England’s organization and leadership transition and general consulting programs. She assisted development at the Institute for Cultural Entrepreneurship program and was a key presenter. She also writes and speaks on nonprofit leadership, governance, and management issues.

Chen-Courtin is clerk for the Greater Lowell Community Foundation board of directors and a member of the EcoTarium board and the Arts Extension Service UMass Amherst board. She has also been involved with the WGBH Community Advisory Board, the Boston Club, YWCA of Boston, and the Asian Task Force Against Domestic Violence.
