Trick or treat for UNICEF
Children in kindergarten through grade 8 may pick up a UNICEF box and fill it with change between now and Halloween. Boxes are available in the HES and Bromfield offices, at the General Store, and at the library. Kids can collect change by asking family, friends, and neighbors to contribute. On Halloween, children should bring the boxes to the giant collection box at the General Store parking lot. Email hughsilk@yahoo.com with any questions. Rent a rower for fall leaf raking
The Bromfield Acton-Boxborough rowing team will offer its annual Rent-a-Rower leaf-raking service Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 4–5, Friday, Nov. 10 (afternoon only), and Saturday and Sunday Nov. 12–13. Crews of three athletes plus one adult will come equipped with a walk-behind leaf blower, a backpack blower, rakes, and tarps. Price is based on yard size and leaf coverage. Trick-or-treating on the Common
Trick-or-treating on the Common will be Tuesday, Oct. 31, from 5 to 7 p.m. Please consider donating candy to residents who live on and around the town Common and who graciously host the majority of trick-or-treaters each year. Drop off unopened packages of individually wrapped candy or non-candy treats at the police station lobby anytime before noon on Monday, Oct. 30. To expedite packaging and distribution, please donate as soon as possible. Halloween is a wonderful community event and we appreciate your participation. Special Town Meeting registration deadline is Friday
There will be a Special Town Meeting Monday, Nov. 6, at 7 p.m. in Cronin Auditorium. The deadline to register to vote at this meeting is Friday, Oct. 27. The town clerk’s office will be open for registration on that day from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

- By mail: Voter registration forms can be found at the secretary of state’s website, www.sec.state.ma.us. The mail-in forms must be postmarked by 11:59 p.m. on Oct. 27 to be eligible to vote at the Nov. 6 meeting.
- Online: Visit www.registertovoteMA.com and complete the online registration application. It must be completed by 11:59 p.m. on Oct. 27 to be eligible to vote at the Nov. 6 meeting.
Take home a ukulele!
Two ukuleles were donated to the Harvard Public Library by a Harvard resident. They come as a kit with a clip-on tuner, a soft gig-bag, a chord chart, and a felt pick. Harvard residents, age 18 and older, may check out a ukulele kit for one week at a time. Call 978-456-4114 or stop by the library’s circulation desk to be added to the ukulele reservation list.
Candy buy-back at dentist’s office
The dental practice of Dr. Amparo David, 563 Main Street in Bolton, invites residents to drop off their extra Halloween candy Nov. 1 through 9. For every pound of candy, a dollar will be given to the donor. All candy collected will be given to the nonprofit organization Operation Gratitude, which will send it to military troops serving overseas.
Drug take-back day
The next National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is this Saturday, Oct. 28. Residents are urged to dispose of expired prescription drugs, or those that are no longer needed, by depositing them in the blue metal kiosk in the police station foyer.
Calling all children’s choir members!
All children in grades 2–12 are invited to join this year’s Ecumenical Christmas Pageant choir. No church affiliation or singing experience is necessary—just a love of holiday music.
