The Harvard Lions Club will host its second annual Volksfest celebration featuring a children’s parade, bed races, food and drink, music, crafts, and games Saturday, Sept. 16, from 2 to 9 p.m. on the grounds in front of the public library.
This year’s Volksfest will start with a children’s stuffed animal parade. Children are invited to bring a new, small, stuffed animal (preferably beanie-baby size) and join the fun. The animals will be donated to Emerson Hospital’s pediatric intervention team and to the Harvard Ambulance Service. The parade will begin at 2:45. Children are asked to gather before that near the start of the bed races, at the corner of the Bromfield driveway and Mass. Ave.
After the parade, the bed races will start, followed by the opening of the beer garden with food, including traditional German fare, live music by local bands, craft vendors, and games for all ages.
