Police made one traffic stop during the week and issued a summons to the driver. Police also helped one motorist get into an inadvertently locked car and fielded one request for a cooking fire permit. The ambulance crew responded to four medical emergencies during the week and took four people to the hospital, two with Advanced Life Support on board.
Tuesday, June 27
At 7 p.m. a caller reported a car being driven erratically on Littleton Road. An officer located the vehicle and issued a summons to the 64-year-old Harvard driver for negligent operation of a motor vehicle, failure to stay within marked lanes, and failure to use caution in stopping.
Wednesday, June 28
Bolton police called at 10:02 p.m. to alert Harvard officers that a car reportedly being driven erratically was headed toward Harvard on Still River Road. Harvard officers did not make contact with the vehicle.
Thursday, June 29
At 6:32 a.m. a patrol officer stopped to investigate a construction site on Stow Road after observing several doors open on buildings under construction. Police report there was also machinery running, and it appeared that vandals had accessed the area by climbing over the fence surrounding the site. The incident is under investigation. A motorist called at 12:30 p.m. to report that her car had been scratched by another vehicle parked next to it in the Sorrento’s parking lot. While an officer was at the parking lot speaking with the caller, the owner of the other car came out of Sorrento’s and went to the car. Police say the other driver had been unaware of anything amiss, and that damage to the caller’s car from a bent license plate was minor, estimated to be less than $1,000. The drivers exchanged insurance information. A Tahanto Trail resident called at 1:19 p.m. to report being the victim of a Craigslist scam. Police say it is a common scam, wherein someone makes an offer on an item for sale on the site, and then pays with a check for more than the sale price, asking the seller to cash it and return the overage to the buyer. The fraudulent check bounces, leaving the victim stuck with the bill.
Friday, June 30
A Littleton Road resident called at 5:22 p.m. to report suspicions about an unfamiliar car parked at the home of a neighbor who was on vacation. Police found that the car belonged to the pet sitter hired by the vacationing family.
Saturday, July 1
At 7:13 a.m. a caller reported a tree in the road on Littleton County Road. The Department of Public Works was notified to remove it. A resident stopped at the station at 10:52 a.m. to report that someone had used her Social Security number to file a tax return in her name.
Sunday, July 2
Someone called at 7:11 a.m. to report a large tree down on wires on Tahanto Trail. Police contacted the DPW, National Grid, and Verizon, but there appeared to be confusion about whose responsibility it was. Dispatch finally asked all three entities to send workers to the scene to figure it out. A motorist stopped at the station at 11:08 a.m. to report having struck a deer. Fitchburg police called at 11:50 a.m. to ask Harvard officers to contact a Harvard resident about a wallet found in Fitchburg.
