I wanted to take the time to thank the Harvard General Store and the many parents, caretakers, and children who participated in the May 23 Kids Comedy Hour & Joke Book Drive Kick-Off! The kids did a great job taking the microphone to share their favorite jokes and riddles with the audience. Many joke books were collected as were beautiful bookmarks decorated by the children. All the donations will be given to the Pediatric Intervention Division of Emerson Hospital for children who have lengthy stays and need some cheering up! If we are able to collect hundreds of books, additional area hospitals will receive donations, including MGH and Children’s Hospital in Boston. We will also be keeping books at Hildreth Elementary School for our schoolchildren who visit the hospital.
The Joke Book Drive is continuing until June 19, the last day of school. Please consider dropping off your new joke book donations in the collection bins at the General Store and at HES. If you would like to order books online, you can have them mailed directly to Humor Heals, c/o Mary Ann Prouty, P.O. Box 555, Harvard, MA 01451.
