If you moved to Harvard in the 1960s or 1970s, you would have received a visit from the Welcome Wagon, a neighbor who stopped by, maybe with a plate of cookies, to chat and to acquaint you with Harvard. Harvard Welcome is a version of the old Welcome Wagon, being formed under the auspices of Arm in Arm and with help from several other groups in town. We want to welcome new residents and to familiarize them with the places, organizations, and annual events that define Harvard’s unique character.
To do this, we need your help. Harvard Welcome invites any existing club or organization, with membership open to anyone in the community, to fill out a form describing their organization, as a way of informing newcomers and also recruiting members. Completed forms will be compiled, along with a brochure or other printed material your group might have, and some background information on Harvard, into an information packet to be given to new families moving to Harvard. We are also looking for a list of those questions that you wished you could have asked someone when you moved to town. Or maybe you would be willing to pick up an information packet and go and greet a new neighbor.
