We want to thank everyone who participated last week in our first annual Garlic Mustard Pull as part of the townwide trash pickup. We were so impressed with the efforts made. We collectively removed a lot of garlic mustard, which will definitely make a dent in the population of this horrible invasive plant.
In case you weren’t able to help last week, or ran out of time, you can still pull—or pull more. The plants have their tiny white flowers now, making them really easy to spot. If you reach right down to the base of the plant it is easy to pull and get the root, too. Remember that plants should be put in the trash to prevent seeds from forming. Every plant removed now, before seeds develop, is preventing hundreds of new seedlings!
