The Bromfield Trojans softball team fell to the Fitchburg Red Raiders Monday, April 24, away at Fitchburg High School, 7–2.
The Red Raiders came with a 1–2 win-loss record, while the Trojans had a 1–1 record before the start of the game. Both teams were unable to score in the first two innings, but in the third inning, Bromfield broke free with two completed runs. The Trojans carried the lead into the fourth inning but lost it in the fifth when the Red Raiders scored six runs in a row. Fitchburg topped off the afternoon with its last run in the seventh inning, leaving Bromfield behind by five runs.
The Trojans had six hits overall, while Fitchburg had nine. The Trojans committed one error, while the Red Raiders committed two.
After the loss, Bromfield’s overall record stood at 1–2, while the girls’ league record remained at 1–0. The team’s next game was scheduled for Wednesday, April 26, away at Littleton, with its next home game set for Friday, April 28.
