The weather couldn’t have been better. The GFW (Great Food Walk on Good Friday) started and finished with sunshine on Harvard’s scenic, 5-mile loop course. Temperatures in the 60s prevailed and provided the perfect backdrop for the 159 walkers who participated in this year’s walk, raising money for Loaves & Fishes (90 percent) and Sharing Inc. (10 percent). Supporters came from six states, representing 29 towns, collectively walking more than 800 miles and bringing with them donations of more than $14,000. This great cooperative effort could not have been successful without the steadfast support of our walkers, nearly 60 GFW volunteers, the Girl Scouts for baking their hallmark brownies, select Boy Scouts for the welcome cleanup help, Bromfield National Honor Society student volunteers, the Harvard Department of Public Works, the Police Department, the local newspapers, Fruitlands Museum, and, for hosting us, the Congregational Church!

Both Loaves & Fishes, serving clients in Ayer, Devens, Groton, Harvard, Littleton, and Shirley, and Sharing Inc., helping people in the rural South, are grateful for the generosity of our wider community.
