This week police made five traffic stops, which resulted in two citations and three verbal warnings. They also helped one motorist with a disabled vehicle. The ambulance crew responded to one medical emergency during the week and took one person to the hospital, with Advanced Life Support on board.
Tuesday, March 21
Ayer police called at 6:34 p.m. seeking assistance from Harvard officers in contacting a Harvard resident regarding a family member in Ayer. At 7:14 p.m. someone called to report a white dog running on the side of Ayer Road. Police notified the animal control officer.
Wednesday, March 22
An employee of an Ayer Road doctor’s office called at 10:50 a.m. to ask that police escort an unruly patient off the property. Police say the person left before the officer arrived. Someone called at 10:58 a.m. to report a tree down across Ann Lees Road. Police contacted the Department of Public Works to remove the tree. Someone stopped at the station at 11:01 a.m. to report a wire down on South Shaker Road. After an officer determined it was not an electrical wire, Verizon was notified to fix it. At 3:16 p.m. a caller reported a tree leaning across Prospect Hill Road, blocking one lane of travel. The DPW was asked to take care of it.
Thursday, March 23
Someone called at 4:52 p.m. to report a small black-and-white dog walking along Poor Farm Road. The animal control officer was notified.
Friday, March 24
At 11:58 p.m. a patrol officer stopped at the Prospect Hill Road overlook to check on an unoccupied car parked there. There was no one in the area, but police were able to obtain the owner’s contact information based on the license plate number and attempted to contact him. There was no response, but the officer left him a phone message.
Saturday, March 25
A Whitney Road resident called 911 at 10:10 p.m. to report concerns about a man seen walking around the house with a flashlight, who came to the door and reported that his car had broken down. Police went to the home and spoke with the man, who said he would have the car taken care of on Monday. Police confirmed that it did not pose a hazard where it was parked.
Sunday, March 26
An officer asked the DPW at 1:08 a.m. to send out sand trucks because the roads were becoming slippery. At 5:23 p.m. a caller reported a car being driven erratically on Woodside Road. The caller, who provided police with the car’s plate number, said that the same car had been seen in the area the previous week being driven erratically. Police contacted the driver and spoke with him about the incident.
Monday, March 27
A Still River Road resident called at 10:48 a.m. to report that the family’s Jack Russell terrier had been missing since the previous night. The animal control officer was notified.
