On-site baby-sitting at Annual Town Meeting
The League of Women Voters of Harvard has arranged for baby-sitting during the Annual Town Meeting on April 1. Harvard Girl Scout Troop 30741, with three adult leaders, will provide childcare at Hildreth Elementary School from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. More information is available on SignupGenius, goo.gl/XRfxMy. Dog licenses
All dogs in the town of Harvard must be licensed annually by April 1. Puppies must be licensed by six months of age. New older dogs and dogs belonging to new residents must be licensed within 30 days. There are penalties for residents who do not register their dogs.
You may register dogs at the town clerk’s office with a valid rabies certificate and, if applicable, a certificate of spaying/neutering.
Fees are $15 for spayed females, $25 for unspayed females, $15 for neutered males, $25 for unneutered males, $45 for three or four dogs, $65 for five to 10 dogs, and $100 for more than 10 dogs. There is no charge if owner is 70+ years old.

Loaves & Fishes donation drive at ATM
Everyone who attends Harvard’s April 1 Annual Town Meeting is encouraged to bring a donation for the Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry. The most needed items include cereal, canned pasta, boxed rice, jelly, pancake mix and syrup, ketchup, mayo, canned foods (pasta, baked beans, chili, tomato products, fruit cocktail), hearty beef and chicken soups, pull-up diapers, feminine care products, shampoo and conditioner, toothpaste and tooth brushes.
Devens noise reports
Loud booms on March 8 served to remind residents that winter is over, and military training at Devens has resumed. The booms were from demolition training exercises. Demolition training exercises are scheduled every day from March 24 through March 31. Monthly reports are available online at www.devens.army.mil/noise-report/noise_report.html, and the Press will publish information from the reports as they become available.
Donate your used soccer equipment
Bromfield athletes Cole and Kamryn Stecyk are joining forces with Let’s Play It Forward to collect gently used soccer equipment—balls, cleats, jerseys, etc. Let’s Play It Forward is a nonprofit organization started by a group of New York teens. It collects and donates used sports equipment to children and organizations in need throughout the country and around the world. On Saturday, April 1, the Stecyks will be collecting equipment at the Transfer Station from 9 a.m. to noon. They can also pick up from your home; email cbstecyk@charter.net.
MWCC offers fitness program for veterans
The Mount Wachusett Community College Fitness and Wellness Center in Gardner now offers a program called Veterans Move that provides veterans and their spouses full memberships at the cost of $15 per month with a physician’s referral.
The program came directly from a need in the area, with many physicians seeking an affordable facility for their patients with joint and knee ailments. The MWCC facility includes a six-lane swimming pool, three full-size indoor basketball courts, two racquetball courts, and state-of-the-art weight training/cardiovascular equipment. In addition, the center offers more than 90 free group fitness classes a week, all led by certified instructors and trainers. For more information call 978-630-9212.
Job fair at MWCC
More than 35 companies and organizations will be participating in a job fair held at Mount Wachusett Community College’s Gardner campus on March 29, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The event will provide students and community members with an opportunity to explore career options and learn about job openings in a diverse range of fields. Full-time, part-time, temporary and summer positions will be available from organizations in attendance. Students may attend the event beginning at 10:30 a.m.
Annual Lions Club citrus fruit sale
The Harvard Lions Club will hold its 26th annual citrus fruit sale, selling fresh ruby red grapefruit and Valencia oranges from Florida in 20-pound and 40-pound boxes at two locations.
- Transfer Station: Saturdays, April 8 and 15, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Wednesdays, April 12 and 19, 7:30 to 11:30 a.m.
- Town center: Saturdays and Sundays, April 8, 9, 15, and 16, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
