I first met Ken Swanton about seven years ago when the Board of Selectmen appointed him to serve on the Harvard Historical Commission. Observing Ken serving on Harvard’s Historical Commission convinced me that he would be an excellent addition to the Board of Selectmen. Having served with him for almost three years as a selectman, I am glad that the voters of Harvard chose to elect him to the board.
He has demonstrated the ability to listen to differing approaches to addressing problems and the talent to bring people together to agree on solutions. Ken played an important role in the recent renovation and accessibility improvements made to Hildreth House. He achieved an agreement on the scope of the project and was instrumental in getting a grant to keep the total cost manageable. Not satisfied with solely using his leadership skills, Ken also joined a volunteer work party to replace some of building’s windows.
Ken moved to Harvard because of our rural character, and he will ensure that it is protected. As the husband of a teacher, he knows the importance of strong schools. Ken is committed to keeping Harvard affordable for all our residents. He has served on the Capital Planning and Investment Committee and understands the importance of sound fiscal planning.
Ken has always worked to find practical solutions for the many challenges facing Harvard. Please join me in placing your vote to re-elect Ken Swanton to the Harvard Board of Selectmen.
