As reported this week, only one race for town office remains as the April 4 Town Election approaches: a three-way contest for two seats on the Board of Selectmen. The candidates are current BOS Chairman Ken Swanton, Planning Board Chairwoman Kara Minar, and Ed Moussouris of Park Lane. Townspeople will have a chance to meet all three at a debate sponsored by the Harvard Press and the League of Women Voters, set for Monday, March 20, at 7 p.m. in Volunteers Hall at the town library.
It’s been two years since the last candidates’ debate, and given the changes to town government being considered by the Charter Commission as well as the inclusion of articles on the Town Meeting warrant dealing with such matters as the future of Devens and the addition of a recreation director to town staff, there’s a lot to discuss with the contenders. We can think of plenty of questions for the candidates, but the Press and League members would like to hear what’s on your mind. What do you think the debate moderator should ask the candidates on your behalf? We’d like to hear from you, so send your questions to debate@harvardpress.net. We’ll do our best to see that they get asked.
