I am running for re-election to the Board of Selectmen. It’s an honor to serve on the board, as Harvard is a special place—a pretty country town with great schools in a region of increasing development and a town with strong volunteer spirit. The selectmen can do a lot to enhance these attributes while also working to keep Harvard affordable.
Three years ago I joined the board after retiring from a career in high-tech management. I had served on many other boards here and in Bolton, which has helped me appreciate the perspective of others and collaborate to find practical solutions. I served on the Bolton School Committee, Planning Board, and Conservation Commission, the Harvard Historical Commission and Capital Planning and Investment Committee, and now the Board of Selectmen and School Building Committee.
Over the next few years Harvard will face some big decisions that I would like to help guide and bring to you for decision at Town Meeting and the ballot box. These include a very large and important school building project, what course we take on Devens, improving our senior housing and center, enhancing our recreation department, the future of critical parts of our special town center, the Charter Commission’s findings, and the continuing need to keep Harvard affordable.
