Before this year’s Annual Town Meeting, the Fourth of July Committee wants to explain to readers the budget item under Article 39: Revolving Funds. In the past, there has been discussion and some objection to the level of its budgeted amount. This merely reflects the projected cost of the event.
Revolving funds are not funded by tax dollars. We, the Fourth of July Committee members, want to reassure residents that the line item of $25,000 for fiscal 2018 continues being funded through sales of T-shirts, hats, and parking at Fruitlands Museum during the fireworks display and concert. Every dollar raised by us goes straight back into the town’s account and is used from year to year for this great event.
Harvard families, in partnership with the Lions Club, pitch in as volunteers every year to make the entire July 4 weekend festive for young and old alike. Please show your support beginning at this year’s Town Meeting and consider helping out at one of our many events.
