At the Massachusetts All-State Track and Field Championships this past Sunday, Feb. 26, Bromfield junior Chloe Alfieri placed seventh in the 300-meter and ninth in the 55-meter. The boys 4×400-meter relay team placed last at the meet, held at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center in Boston.

In the 300-meter, Alfieri finished seventh out of 17 runners with a time of 41.50 seconds. Alfieri did not qualify for the final round of the 55-meter dash. Her ninth place at 7.43 seconds was just one spot shy of qualifying; the top eight runners qualify for the finals. Alfieri was just 0.03 seconds behind Milton senior Abigail Jean-Baptiste.

Composed of seniors Jamie Barrett, Paul Chapman, and Tristan Cronin and junior Luke Jones, the Bromfield boys team’s last-place finish among 23 of the fastest high school 4×400-meter relay teams in Massachusetts came in at 3:44.03 minutes. Although the Trojans dropped the baton during the race, senior captain Paul Chapman said, “We aren’t disappointed. Our main goal was to make it to All-States.”

Hannah LoChiatto is a Bromfield senior.
