The Trojan girls basketball team fell to the Littleton Tigers on Thursday, Jan. 26, at home in the Bromfield gymnasium 58–40. On Monday, Jan. 30, the team lost to Oakmont Regional High School 68–41.
Littleton’s Sarah Smith, also the top scorer of the Thursday night game, put up the first basket of the evening. She was soon followed by Bromfield senior Hannah LoChiatto, who scored the first Trojan two-pointer. The Tigers soon pulled ahead of the Trojans, securing a one-point lead by the end of the quarter. With the score now 9–8, the Tigers’ odds only seemed to improve as the night continued. Littleton finished the first half ahead 24–12. The 10 fouls committed by Bromfield, compared to Littleton’s two, added to the Tigers’ lead. They scored 11 points in foul shots alone.
As the second half of the game continued, the disparity between the two teams only increased. Although the two teams brought strong defensive games to the court early in the half with numerous interceptions by both, their defense faded in the later quarters. Every basket the Trojans scored was followed by another from the Tigers. Littleton, however, took the lead in number of fouls in the second half, with Bromfield gaining 11 points in foul shots. Trojan senior Lexi Norcross scored four, LoChiatto had six, and sophomore Brynn Pierce put up one. The third quarter finished 49–28 with Littleton in the lead, which the Tigers maintained until the end of the game.
LoChiatto was Bromfield’s top scorer of the night, at 13 points. Norcross came in second with 10, and senior Abbey Pacl was third with eight points.
Following Monday’s loss against Oakmont, the Trojans’ overall record stood at 1–13.
