The Bromfield boys indoor track team took part in three relays this past weekend, Saturday, Jan. 23, at the MSTCA (Massachusett State Track Coaches Association) Division 5 State Relay meet at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center in Boston. Bromfield finished in a five-way tie with Dover-Sherborn, Amesbury, Hopedale, and Littleton for 14th place out of 25 teams.
Juniors Sean Leisure and Luke Jones and seniors Will Day and Jamie Barrett finished in 13th place out of 36 teams in the 4×200-meter relay race with a time of 1:40.26.
Seniors Paul Chapman, Tristan Cronin, and Jamie Barrett and junior Luke Jones had a strong run in the 4×400-meter relay, finishing in third place out of 32 teams with a time of 3:40.99, setting a new school record. Bromfield was close behind the first-place team, Oakmont Regional High School, 3:39.11, and second-place North Reading High School, 3.39.50.
Chapman, Cronin, and Day, and freshman Will Squire finished in 14th place out of 25 teams in the 4×800-meter relay race with a time of 9:09.82.
The team is currently 0–5 and in sixth place in the Midland-Wachusett League Division D. Bromfield is now preparing for the league championships on Friday, Feb. 3, at Fitchburg High School.
