The Ecumenical Town of Harvard Christmas Pageant Committee would like to thank everyone who planned, participated, or assisted in any way to make Sunday’s event at the Harvard Unitarian Church, the Annual Christmas Pageant, the carol singing around the town Common Christmas tree, and the lighting of the Christmas tree all a success! More than 100 children participated in the performance, either in the cast or in the choir, from a few months old to 17 years old!
There are so many to thank, from the hardworking members of the planning committee, to all the parents of the participants who help with costumes, stage management, and cleanup (which involves lots of vacuuming of straw and sparkling garland!). The music every year is so amazing, and the committee thanks all the community music teachers who volunteer to help the children learn their pieces, and we especially thank our choir director, Erin Ash Sullivan, who brings 50-plus children’s voices together harmoniously and sweetly for us to appreciate and warm our hearts. We also thank HCTV for recording the performances, all the Bromfield students who donate many hours to mentor and teach the younger participants, the Nashoba Valley Concert Band for cheerful carols around the Common Christmas tree, Fire Chief Sicard and the Harvard Fire Department, the town selectmen, Town Administrator Tim Bragan, David Woodsum for making sure the tree lighting would go off without a hitch, Nancy Cronin and her elves for providing hot cocoa and cookies after the shows, and all the many people, young and old, who step in to help; it makes us all pause to think about what makes “community.”
We thank everyone who makes it possible to take a moment in this busy season to appreciate how an event can bring us all together and create a gift that is timeless.
