The Bromfield Trojans crushed Clinton High School 9–0 on Sept. 28, beat Littleton 3–1 on Sept. 30, and then clobbered Tyngsborough 5-0 on Oct 4.
On Wednesday, the Trojan team destroyed the Gaels at Clinton High. Previously, Clinton’s record stood at 3 wins, 2 losses, and 1 tie. The game against Bromfield was the biggest defeat yet for the Gaels this season. Three Trojans scored seven of the nine goals that afternoon: Seniors Nick Bibbo and Omar Al-Homsi both notched two, and junior Jack Armstrong had a hat trick, scoring three in a row. Austin Franklin, the Trojan goalie, successfully deflected all shots at the goal.

On Friday, the Bromfield players faced Littleton at home in a cold, windy drizzle. The Trojans played extremely well in the first 20 minutes, according to Tom Hill, the boys soccer coach. Armstrong scored the first goal of the afternoon in the first five minutes of the game. Players passed frequently to other teammates as well, often in small triangles, and the offense would often send the ball back to defense when pressured. Littleton managed a goal off a penalty kick later in the first half, but Bromfield scored twice more in the last 30 minutes, on a shot from senior Stuart Irwin and on a penalty kick from Al-Homsi near the end of the game.
When asked about Friday’s game, Coach Hill said, “We had a lot of people not play up to their abilities. We missed chances on the offensive end, and we made some mistakes on the defensive end that fortunately didn’t cost us … We need to play better.”
The Trojans lived up to those expectations on Tuesday, facing the undefeated Tyngsborough team. They trounced their opponents 5–0. Irwin scored Bromfield’s first goal 12 minutes into the game. Al-Homsi notched the next three, two in the first half and one in the second, followed by Mischa DeRuijter with the final score.
The three wins left the Trojans in first place in the Midland-Wachusett League’s Division D with a record of 5-0. The Trojans were next scheduled to face Sutton on Oct. 6.
