In August Be-Ann Productions of Boston filmed an informative video at RiverCourt Residences in West Groton for the PJ Library . The video is to promote reading for young children. The PJ Library sends free Jewish children’s books to families across the world every month.
Be-Ann Productions, established in 2002, is a full service production company. When asked how he came to select RiverCourt for the production, Director John Doan indicated, “The atmosphere was exactly what I was looking to capture on film. When I toured RiverCourt Residences with [Executive Director] Sharon [Amadon], I was immediately struck by how engaged and happy the residents were. We were coming down the hall at one point, and passed by a group of 8-10 residents who just came from a morning workout in the exercise room. I was impressed with how happy they looked, and when I got to the exercise center, I understood why. Sunlight spilled into the room and created an incredibly warm and uplifting space. I knew this is where I wanted to film.”
The film was shot at RiverCourt Residences all day on Monday, Aug. 29 in the gym. Five residents from RiverCourt were in the film. The scene shot was about a young girl (the lead actress in the film), and she was teaching the elderly women how to dance. The residents enjoyed themselves and loved watching the director and film crew. The 15-second scene took about six hours to film.
