This week police made seven traffic stops that resulted in three citations and four verbal warnings. They also responded to one request for an outdoor cooking fire. The ambulance crew responded to three medical emergencies and took one person to the hospital. Two people refused treatment or transport to the hospital.
Tuesday, Aug. 30
At 1:57 a.m. a patrol officer stopped to investigate an open door at a vacant Lancaster Country Road building. Finding nothing unusual, the officer secured the door. An officer stopped at McCurdy Track at 2:28 a.m. to investigate apparent vandalism; a park bench had been knocked over, but nothing else suspicious was found. At 7:20 p.m. someone stopped at the station to report that teens might be damaging the new playground equipment at the town beach. Officers investigated and found nothing amiss except that the “caution” tape around the equipment had been pulled down.
Wednesday, Aug. 31
Boxborough police called at 8:29 a.m. to request assistance from a female Harvard officer in searching a woman arrested in Boxborough.
Thursday, Sept. 1
State police called at 5:33 p.m. to alert Harvard officers that a black Toyota Tundra that was seen on Route 2 striking several signs along the road had exited in Harvard and was headed toward Ayer. Harvard police did not locate the vehicle, but they notified Ayer police to look for it.
Friday, Sept. 2
An off-duty Bolton police officer called at 1:08 a.m. to alert Harvard officers about a suspicious-looking man in a hooded sweatshirt seen near the General Store. After speaking with the man near the General, a Harvard officer determined there was no cause for concern. Someone called at 7:08 a.m. to report a hole in the road on Route 111 at the Route 2 overpass. MassDOT placed a sign over the hole and four orange cones around it. Police say the town has been waiting three weeks for MassDOT to permanently repair the hole. At 6:35 p.m. a caller reported that a black SUV was being driven erratically on Old Littleton Road. Police did not locate the vehicle.
Saturday, Sept. 3
Someone called at 11:08 a.m. to report a possible case of illegal trash dumping on Massachusetts Avenue. An officer searched one of the bags left at the area and found some information identifying the trash’s likely owner. Police say the owner will be contacted. At 1:41 p.m. a caller reported a tree limb on phone wires on Madigan Lane. Charter Communications was notified. An Old Littleton Road resident called to report hearing gunshots in the area, possible coming from Park Lane. An officer checked the area but heard and found nothing.
Sunday, Sept. 4
A detail officer working at Fruitlands Museum called at 9:50 p.m. to request assistance in dealing with some unruly partygoers at the site. The officers restored the peace.
Monday, Sept. 5
Someone called 911 at 11:27 a.m. to report seeing an apparent water line break flooding the backyard at a Deerfoot Trail residence. An officer went to the residence and, finding no one home, shut off two valves to stop the water flow and left the homeowners a note. At 4:18 p.m. a caller reported a tree branch hanging between the library and the high school. An officer knocked the branch down and notified the Department of Public Works to take care of it.
