The first Lions Club Volksfest and Bed Race event was a smashing success on Sept. 17. Nine teams competed in the bed race, and the winners got bragging rights and their names on the trophy that will be prominently displayed year-round at the General Store. The Volksfest was so well attended that the Lions Club had to make two emergency trips to procure more food for their hungry patrons, who numbered three times more than expected.
