The Lit’ry Life 2016: Poetry by Brianna Harte

Symphony Hidden in the Mist

Landing upon a lonely mound
And gazing out through the fog,
I enter a world left delicate,
Hanging by silken threads
And woven into majestic wonders.
Softly spoken crickets play their tune
As reeds bend in a dance with the wind.
Shrouded in the curling mist,
Senses heighten, embracing more,
More than an open land could give.
For just a moment left in pause
Or a precarious step toward fate
Brings details once trivial
Into focus for our minds to seek.
As a wonder of what to do
Crosses paths with something new
Or simply a place never seen,
The chatter of leaves grows,
And the journey of flowing water
Provides a soft melody
To which the fireflies twirl
And swing with endless grace.
All this world together
In all its beauty and elegance
Has gathered me in its trance,
For when my eyes lifted away,
I simply forgot the reason
Why I stumbled upon the mound
That lead me to small wonders
Forever to stay in my mind.
