Voter registration deadline for state primary is Friday
The deadline to register to vote or to change party affiliation for the Sept. 8 state primary election is Friday, Aug. 19. The town clerk’s office will be open that day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
End-of-season beach information
Town Beach director, Alexandra Luck, has announced that Aug. 21 is the last day to rent a town boat and that all of the rafts, town boats, and ropes around the swim area will be removed on Aug. 22. The town beach will be staffed with parking lot attendants and lifeguards from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. only through Aug. 24.
According to the beach by-laws, the beach, parking lot, boat ramp, and facilities are open to town residents every day of the year from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Rules are always in effect, every day of the year, even if beach staff is not present to enforce them. The rules include no animals, no smoking, and the need for a beach sticker to park in the parking lot or to launch a boat.
Bromfield School capital project public unveiling
The Bromfield School’s leadership team and the Harvard School Committee thank the community for its support of the recent capital improvements and will host a “Bromfield School Capital Project Public Unveiling” on Friday, Aug. 26, from 7:30 to 9 a.m. and again Tuesday, Aug. 30, from 6 to 7 p.m. The events will highlight the new parking lot, bathrooms, and science labs, including some before and after pictures. Light refreshments will be served.
Orientation for grade 6 and new Bromfield students
Grade 6 orientation and new student orientation are scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 24, in the Bromfield library. The grade 6 orientation will begin at 10 a.m.; new student orientation begins at noon. These sessions are geared to help support students as they adjust to their new school. Students who cannot attend these orientations are encouraged to contact the Bromfield office to make other arrangements.
Community Harvest Project looking for
team leaders
Community Harvest Project is looking for volunteers to lead teams of volunteer apple pickers this fall. Team leaders will receive training at the orchard on Prospect Hill Road and can work as many or as few shifts as they like. Shifts are three hours long, Monday through Saturday. Perfect for retirees, stay-at-home parents, gap-year students, or anyone who wants to help the community. The season starts Sept. 1 and ends Oct. 15.
